Tahiti and its islands are a part of France, therefore a special visa, which Guadeloupe Section of the French embassy gives, is required.

The climate is tropical. The average temperature over the year is 27 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the water is 26 degrees Celsius. There is always sunny and hot, but the climate is softened owing to the fresh wind of Pacific Ocean.

The currency is Polynesian Francs (XPF).

In Polynesia there are no dangerous animals and insects so the inoculations are not necessary. The system of public health services is at a high level.

In Polynesia both local residents and tourists wear simple dresses. Take with yourself summer beach clothes preferably made of cotton. For the travel by ship you can provide clothes from flax and wool, as it can be cool in the evenings.

French and Tahitian are official languages. English is widespread in hotels, tourist places, in shops and restaurants.

Annually in the end of June the Heiva contest of Polynesian and a traditional Tahitian dance is conducted here. Dancers are dressed in very magnificent suits. In Tahiti the religious Woodoo cult prospers.
